Bible Harris Smith, P.C.
Certified Public Accountants and Business Advisors Since 1949

William B. Snyder, CPA

Bill joined Bible Harris Smith, P.C. in July, 1991, following two years at a "Big 8" firm and one year in industry. Current responsibilities include: the supervision of audits, reviews, and compilations; assistance in updating the firm on new accounting and auditing pronouncements; and monitoring the firm's quality control system. Bill also provides a variety of services to clients including small business consulting, preparation of corporate and partnership tax returns, and other assurance services. He has experience in a variety of industries, including: manufacturing, transportation, computer services, insurance, retailing, communications, and employee benefit plans.

"My client service philosophy is simple," says Snyder. "I try to put myself in the client's shoes and treat the client the same way I would expect to be treated." Bill considers himself a communicator and problem solver. He believes CPAs are more than just number crunchers. He sees a continuing challenge in educating the public about the variety of services Bible Harris Smith, P.C. can provide. "Bible Harris Smith, P.C. is more than just an auditing or tax firm. The firm's experienced staff and affiliation with BKR International enable us to deliver solutions to almost any business problem."

Snyder took a non-traditional route to his current position at Bible Harris Smith, P.C. After receiving a degree in communications, with honors, from the University of Tennessee, he spent eight years as Advertising Director of a weekly newspaper. Bill and his advertising team earned several statewide awards for advertising and design. He also gained national recognition from the American Advertising Federation for a public service project involving the PTA. In 1985, he elected to make the career change to accounting. In 1988, Bill completed the equivalent of a second major in accounting from UT with a 3.9 GPA and entered the accounting profession.

He believes his diverse background enables him to see beyond the numbers when advising clients. "CPAs are information agents. As such, we must effectively communicate information, financial and otherwise, in an objective and reliable manner."

Snyder is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA). He has served in various positions with local civic clubs and has been active in his children's school and sporting activities. He and his wife Trescha have two children. When not engaged in family activities, Bill enjoys attending a variety of University of Tennessee sporting events, golf, reading, and playing guitar.
