Dave joined Bible Harris Smith, P.C. in July, 2006, returning to public accounting after spending several years in industry. He provides a variety of services to clients including business consulting, tax consulting and preparation, and assurance services. He has experience in a variety of industries, including: personal services, printing, wholesale, distribution, retail and light manufacturing.
Dave recognizes the important role an accountant can have in the success of a business by providing meaningful information that enables a business to make good decisions. "I have spent most of my career focused on providing information rather than just “numbers”. I became a Certified Management Accountant to better understand the needs of my clients and later use those skills as a member of management."
Prior to joining the firm, O’Toole was VP of Finance for a national personal service company located in Boca Raton, Florida that was recently acquired by a public company. He was controller of a large regional printing company located in Augusta, Maine that through acquisitions doubled in size twice in 4 years. Prior to that Dave spent ten years as a public accountant in his home town of Portland, Maine.

Prior to receiving his accounting degree from the University of Maine in 1984, Dave served in the Air Force as a “Wild Weasel” crew chief. He is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) and the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA). He and his wife, Jacqueline, have three boys which keep them busy hiking, dirt bike riding and enjoying Douglas Lake.
